Wisdom
When I have ceased to break my wings
Against the faultiness of things,
And learned that compromises wait
Behind each hardly opened gate,
When I have looked Life in the eyes,
Grown calm and very coldly wise,
Life will have given me the Truth,
And taken in exchange–my youth.

Hmmmm…. tension. Is this Sara like Sylvia Path?
This is great, Carol!
I have been enjoying getting to know her poetry this April. I like this one a lot, especially that last line.Di
Teasdale is one of my all time favorites. Now I must go fetch my volume of her poems and revisit some of the ones I really love.
