I’m only going over home

In the sweetness of life, there is still a yearning…

a longing…

I’m a poor wayfaring stranger
While traveling thru this world of woe
Yet there’s no sickness, toil, or danger
In that bright world to which I go
I’m going there to see my Father
I’m going there no more to roam
I’m only going over Jordan
I’m only going over home

…I’m going there to see my Father

…I’m going there to see my Mother

…I’m going there to see my Savior

Eva Cassidy’s memorable rendition (the whole thing!)

  1. What  made you think of this song? I haven’t listened to my Eva Cassidy CD for awhile….thanks for the reminder. But it DOES make me cry still to listen to “Over the Rainbow.”

  2. I’ve been thinking much about ‘going over home’.  Why is it that sometimes the very simplest of songs can sum up an idea and feeling so succintly?

  3. time after time it’s good to be introduced to other songs as well…. have been listening to tracy chapman lately… dh is a music listening fan(atic)… i’ll ask him to add the above to our collection

  4. I love that song, and I love Eva Cassidy’s voice.  We were given a CD of her a couple of years ago.  Amazing.  I can’t remember where I first heard Wayfaring Stranger but I used to sing it a lot.Blessings,Sandy
