Lord, now lettest thou thy servant
depart in peace,
according to thy word:
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared
before the face of all people;
A light to lighten the Gentiles,
and the glory of thy people Israel.

This painting is very touching. Did you know that Rembrandt was one of the first artists to try to make art more accessible to the common people, by making prints of much of his art, and selling them at lower prices? I thought that was kinda neat.
I didn’t know that about Rembrandt. It’s good to know…And a really wonderful picture. I had not seen that one berfore.
It is beatiful. Simeon is one of my favorite people.
