Fine Art Friday – Delft Pottery

This small Delft vase was a wedding present by an elderly widow who gave it to us in memory of Margretta, my grandmother and her best friend. My two grandmas, as different as night and day, were both Dutch.  The Delft vase has always been precious to me and I’m thankful that it has (so far) survived raising three lively boys and my own clumsy hands.

Below are some other examples of Delft Pottery.

  1. Oh! YUM!!  So glad you posted about pottery.  That piece is charming and so special.  I love blue and white!
Just last evening as I was pondering my choices…..I thought….hmmmm, should I branch out and post something other than oil paintings?
More about abstract next week 🙂

  2. Your vase is beautiful, and even more so when you imagine it in a loved one’s hands.  I’ve always loved Delft.  You can be sure it would not survive my clumsy hands, though.
I posted a Z artist.  And now I am free from alphabetical limitations!

  3. Beautiful! I have always loved Delft pottery, partly because of the exquisite designs and also beause blue is my very favorite color. Thanks for sharing with us…

  4. Your art is beautiful.  I have a teapot that is very similiar and old but I’m not sure of it origins.  My grandma gave me a set of rooster/hen salt and pepper shakers that belonged to my great grandma and although Im not much into chickens they sit in my china hutch with my crystal and other treasures because of who they came from.  I wonder what thing mine my grandchildren may hold as treasure?  Have a wonderful week!
