A Small Victory

I just taught myself something new!  Wahoo!!!  Among other frustrations with Xanga, I’ve been unhappy with my sidebar.  My booklog in the “Interests” category has limited space which has required many edits.  I would prefer to include author’s names but space doesn’t allow that.

I wanted the list to be easier to read – one book per line.  But the text was always wrapping.  When my son was home on spring break I wheedled an book on HTML out of his stack of books to sell on Amazon.  It’s been sitting, collecting dust until this morning.  Scanning the table of contents I found “Creating a Line Break” on page 70.  The code, if you care, is  “<br />”.  I have aspirations of learning HTML – my brother in-law, a software programmer has agreed to teach me on my upcoming visit.

The joy of life is made up of obscure and seemingly mundane victories that give us our own small satisfactions.                  Billy Joel

Any small victories in your life today?

  1. Hi Carol,
I just wanted to say I love reading your blog!  I miss you and hope that I will get to see you next weekend when I come up for my class reunion, I am more interested in meeting with old friends of my choosing anyway!  I have much to be thankful for today and everyday and speaking of victories I will blow Skyler’s horn…he is on the number one baseball team in Idaho.  We spent all day Saturday in Lewiston in 113 degree heat watching the baseball state tournament.  Moscow is the only team in Idaho with all 16 year olds that went to state.  They are now on their way to Regionals in Vancouver, WA.  It is great to see these young men grow up in the great american sport and just knowing that they have all made it this far is a sweet victory!
    Love Ya! Kate

  2. Carol,I painted our main bathroom, which I’ve been putting off for two years! I posted all about it on Maple Grove.Congrats on learning that bit of HTML. I am functionally illiterate. If I can’t figure out how to cut and paste it from blogger, I’m out of luck.Blessings, sandy

  3. I think this will be helpful, thanks! I want to know how to post poetry lines without having the big space between lines…is that the same thing? or do you have a different setting in the Look& Feel place?

  4. Go Skyler! I just overheard Collin telling a friend about being on Skyler’s team (waaaay back in time) and how he (Skyler) hit homeruns almost every time at bat. Did you know that Chris’ 15 year old team was 2nd in state? Let us know how it goes in Vancouver.Sandy – that is practical knowlege. There’s not a better feeling that finishing a chore that has been postponed for a lengthy time.Tanabu – I think it would work. Try it!Dana – Hooray! You’re back! How was the reunion? I missed you.
