Kitchen Project

This is the next cupboard I tackled – the Before Picture.
I’ve worked on this one in the past with my dear SIL “Organization is the Key to Life” Val.
This cupboard is a challenge.
If I don’t keep it up, malignant growths multiply.

I’m pretending I’m moving – thus everything is removed.
I found the Clorox Kitchen Wipes helpful, easy, and convenient.

Last go around, I elevated the bulk spices on wire racks. It was good.
But, the little spice bottles were gaily devouring order.
We needed a new plan.

Here they are contained.  I can easily lift the whole caboodle down,
use the spice and put it back into its own happy little home.

This little P-Touch guy is just about my favorite tool in the house.
Add labels to a job and it suddenly becomes gangs of fun.

Ta Da!!
See the wire baskets with sesame oil and hickory smoke on the lower left?
Ha! I feel like the Dutch stealing land from the sea!
With those baskets of bottles,
I stole two inches of space from the air. (They extend over the edge.)
Easily amused is what I am.

Two sections completed make me smile.
I still l-o-v-e my knives and fork drawer. It still looks just like this:

  1. Voila!!
You are the master of re-organization.  And I thought the first pic looked *good*
Hmmmm…..I’m not quite ready to be this transparent, but the *before* and *after* shots are encouraging.

  2. Speaking of being *transparent*  I didnt realize you taught piano lessons.  That’s really neat 🙂  I’ll bet you have lots of good stories to tell, but perhaps cant.  Like Noel and her midwifery; or me …..I cant talk about my office work.
There’s so much more than meets the eye.

  3. I’ll tell ya, Carol, why don’t you stowaway with Diane in a few weeks, come and be my co-teacher (not assistant!) AND do my kitchen!! Kind of a lopsided bargain, isn’t it?! I am in the midst of window/screen/sill cleaning and flowerbed something-ing, but I do need to at least wipe out and reorganize my cabinets. Happy cleaning!JaniePS–I didn’t realize until recently too that you had piano students! So multi-talented you are!

  4. Carol, is that a butter bell I see on the bottom shelf…and you’ve never written about it? Kindred Spirit!! I love my butter bell and often give them as wedding presents. Of course, you must put good imported butter in the bell – Kerry Gold, English Devonshire, or Beurre D’Avigny. Our kids broke one of our crocks so we have two bells that we alternate, keeping one in the fridge while the other one is kept in the crock on the table.I love your before and after pictures. I should have done the same with my bookshelves – maybe they’d be done by now!Lynne

  5. Yeah, Lynne, I think I call it a butter keeper. My niece gave it to me when I raved about hers on my last trip to PA. But I’m *completely ignorant* about imported butter. Oh, I’m writing down these names and seeing if any stores in my small town have them. How are they different? There is a nice Irish cheese I like to get for a treat. So, Lynne, post a picture “in media res”, eh? Start in the middle and then go from there. Besides, I get starry eyed, numb lips and begin drooling when I see other people’s bookshelves.

  6. Love your pictures!  I’m tempted to do the same, as that may give me just the boost I need to get started.  One of my cupboards–the one that holds Rubbermaid stuff–is a disaster.  I keep trying to organize it, but it just gets messy again.  But I’m with Dana–I thought the “before” picture looked pretty good already .
I like the looks of the P-Touch, too.

Comments are cinnamon on my oatmeal!
