Those Who Dare To Teach

“Those who dare to teach
must never cease to learn.”

I ran across this stunning quote this morning.  Wanting to verify the author, I Googled the sentence with quotes around it.  You wouldn’t believe all the people to whom this quote is attributed.  I stopped counting at ten.  I immediately thought of Janie whose blog entries of continued learning and stories of substitute teaching inspire me.

  1. Very Big Smile here! You know, while waiting on my crew to make their way into the house for our salad supper, I just sat down to see if anyone had put anything new on their blogs. And when Magistramater loaded (I’m still on slow-go dial-up), the picture and quote filled the screen. I got so excited because that quote has been running into me at many different turns! It IS something I really believe in! And LOVE! AND the photo (which I love too) reminds me of another I came across just the other day. (I’ll put it up at SS soon.) I glad you are inspired! Thanks for thinking of me.

  2. I would change it a bit (although is 10 Great People are attribited with this quote, I need to leave it alone)… here is my version “If you ever stop learning, you may as well just dig your grave and hop in!”  My students weary of me saying that…poor kids. If that is all they remember from Mrs. Bombie, I will have taught them something, at least.
Maybe another way to express it is, “I gotta learn faster to keep ahead of the little darlings!”

Comments are cinnamon on my oatmeal!
